CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

People, Place & Community with Island House LVM

Since its foundation in 2020, Island House LVMhas grasped the opportunity to help support and sustain local initiatives and campaigns important to the people and communities of the TCI.

From education to environmental programmes, Island House firmly believes it is a duty of care to give back to the people and natural world in ways that make an impact however small. We also encourage our villa owners and guests to do the same, as little by little, combined efforts can make a real difference.

Our Commitment to the Turks & Caicos

Sustainability & Environment

Island House is always seeking ways to help lower the environmental footprint in our villa settings. By consuming mindfully, embracing new energy saving technologies and encouraging everyone from villa owners to staff and guests to do their bit, we can all contribute towards a more sustainable future for luxury hospitality and travel.

Laundry on Request – reuse where possible
Supply of products with paper/card packaging
Reduction in use of virgin plastic vs recycled plastic
Use of refillable products where practical
Use of quality local products and ingredients vs international air miles

Other environmental and energy efficient initiatives supported include:

Installation of solar panels
Powersaving devices/monitors to limit and reduce usage
Water Saving measures when cleaning, irrigating or washing
Island wide use of Reverse Osmosis/Desalination to conserve fresh water
Participation in the annual TCI Coastal Cleanup
Support of the Turks & Caicos Reef Fund through swim zones – helping fund urgent coral repopulation efforts (https://www.tcreef.org/)
Guest and owner awareness – we actively promote local initiatives and projects wherever possible to help support the local community and islands

Our People

We care passionately about supporting, nurturing and celebrating our Island House team, as without them the Island House mission and vision would not be possible. Our strength lies in our diversity with 15+ nationalities and 16  languages spoken by our committed team of 62.

We have created a respectful and happy working environment where meaningful, thoughtful gestures make a big difference. As a small, TCI-based company we recognise this loyalty through:

High Quality Training

Island House encourages and supports team participation with relevant hospitality accreditation. Our latest training partner is the world-recognised British Butler Association.

Volunteering Opportunities

The Island House team is actively engaged with local volunteering and philanthropic endeavours that help preserve the natural environment, marine life and local traditions of the TCI.

Employment for the Islands

Wherever possible we choose to employ locally, retaining and developing vital island knowledge and personal connection.

Long Service Awards

We are proud that many of our talented team have been with Island House since Day 1.

Community & Education in the TCI

One of the founding principles of Island House is the fundamental right to knowledge and education which should be afforded to all children across the TCI.

For some years now, United Way has been our charity of choice with their longstanding mission to improve literacy and reading skills across the island’s schools and communities.

We support United Way throughout the year through their Sponsor a Child Programme and hope you may be inspired to do the same.
